Who was Vikramaditya ?
Chandragupta 2 known as Vikramaditya who defeated the Shakas of Punjab and launched their own Vikram Samvat and banned Shaka Samvat calendar.
His calendar itself confirm his time period . This year is Vikram Samvat 2080 and Vikram Samvat starts from 56 BC .That year marks the defeat of the invading Sakas (powerful Central Asian Tribes) by King Vikramaditya when Ujjain was invaded.
Their is also a inscription which phrases Vikramaditya as a Vaishnava follower and he built ponds…This inscription is on solving water issue of Daspur, Madhya Pradesh (india).
How much large his original Empire?

Kathasarita Sagar written by Somdeva Bhatt mentioned the Vikramaditya Empire expansion.

English Translation - O Lord Vikramaditya ! You conquered the southern region including Aparanta, the middle country including Saurashtra and the eastern region including Anga Janpada; captured the northern region including Kashmir and Kashtha and won various forts and island (Daman and Diu); Killed the Mlechha-Vrindas and subdued the rest. The generals of Vikramaditya entered Vindhyashakti's camp.
So , He also confirm that his Empire is only in North Indian Subcontinent.
Why he become Famous in Indian History?
He becomes very famous after defeating Shakas. So their is a Verse as it is mentioned by three Vedic Historians In their book -
शकानां वंशमुच्छेद्य कालेन कियताऽपि हि ।
राजा श्रीविक्रमादित्यः सार्वभौमोपमोऽभवत्।।
Hindi Translation - शकों का वंश समाप्त करके राजा श्री विक्रमादित्य पृथ्वी पर सर्व विख्यात हो गये।
English Translation - By ending the dynasty of Shakas, King Shri Vikramaditya became famous all over the earth.

Purushottam Nagesh Oak (March 2, 1917 – December 4, 2007), commonly referred to as P. N. Oak, was an Indian writer and self-styled Professor, notable for his historical revisionism. Oak’s “Institute for Rewriting Indian History” issued a quarterly periodical called Itihas Patrika in the 1980s.Dozens of blogs and websites refer to him as “Professor” P. N. Oak, but he never was a professor, nor was he a PhD. According to his own account, he did M.A. (Agra) and L.L.B (Mumbai), and was an official in the Ministry for Information, and wrote various journalistic pieces.

The text of the crucial Vikramaditya inscription, found inscribed on a gold dish hung inside the Kaaba shrine in Mecca, is found recorded on page 315 of a volume known as ‘Sayar-ul-Okul’ treasured in the Makhtab-e-Sultania library in Istanbul, Turkey.
The pages of that volume are of Hareer – a kind of silk used for writing on. Each page has a decorative gilded border. That anthology is known as Sayar-ul-Okul. It is divided into three parts. The first part contains biographic details and the poetic compositions of pre-Islamic Arabian poets. The second part embodies accounts and verses of poets of the period beginning just after prophet Mohammad’s times, up to the end of the Banee-Um-Mayya dynasty. The third part deals with later poets up to the end of Khalif Harun-al-Rashid’s times.
Abu Amir Asamai, an Arabian bard who was the poet Laureate of Harun-al-Rashid’s court, has compiled and edited the anthology.
The first modern edition of ‘Sayar-ul-Okul’ was printed and published in Berlin in 1864. A subsequent edition is the one published in Beirut in 1932.
The collection is regarded as the most important and authoritative anthology of ancient Arabic poetry. It throws considerable light on the social life, customs, manners and entertainment modes of ancient Arabia. The book also contains an elaborate description of the ancient shrine of Mecca, the town and the annual fair known as OKAJ which used to be held every year around the Kaaba temple in Mecca. This should convince readers that the annual haj of the Muslims to the Kaaba is of earlier pre-Islamic congregation.

- Is Sayar-ul-Okul authentic?
Therefore no such thing as ‘Sayar-ul-Okul’ exists in the world except in secret swiss Vault of Mr P N Oak! A. Because there is no proof of ancient Arabic poetry compiled from an earlier work in A.D. 1742 under the orders of the Turkish ruler Sultan Salim. It never happened!.
Oak further states that “Abu Amir Asamai, an Arabian bard who was the poet Laureate of Harun-al-Rashid’s court, has compiled and edited the anthology”.
But there was no poet by the name of “Abu Amir Asamai” to ever have existed in Harun-al-Rashid’s court. Infact there was no person by the name “Abu Amir Asamai” to have existed in any span of time in the history of the world! .Instead Abu-Nuwas al-Hasan ben Hani Al-Hakami (756–814),a known as Abū-Nuwās (Abu Novas), was one of the greatest of classical Arabic poets in Harun-al-Rashid’s court. And he never compiled or edited the anthology named “Sayar-ul-Okul”.

Last 4 years ago some person also started posting that he was Parmara(based on bhavishya Purana and kathasritasagar) which make the Parmaras emotionally connected to him …that make the this propogation more stronger…
Is bhavishya Purana authentic for his Empire expansion authority?
“Bhavishya Purana” mentioned that vikramaditya ruled over whole Earth. But this Bhavishya Purana also mentioned Jesus Christ, Muhammad, Chaitanya, Akbar, Jaichandra, British Rule, Hitler , name of English days “Sunday” “Monday “ etc. That's why it's not authentic at all.
Note -By the way various Puranas also says that Mauryan ruled over whole Earth but that is not authentic at all as Mauryan only ruled over Indian subcontinent.

A certain brāhmaṇa [Cāṇakya] will betray the trust of King Nanda and his eight sons and will destroy their dynasty. In their absence the Mauryas will rule the world as the Age of Kali continues.
- ततश्च नव चैतान्नन्दान् कौटिल्यो ब्राह्मणस्समुद्धरिष्यति ॥ २६ ॥ तेषामभावे मौर्याः पृथिवीं भोक्ष्यन्ति ॥ २७ ॥
(Vishnu Purāṇa -Ansha 4 Adhyay 24: shoka 26–27)
After that, a Brahmin named Kautilya will destroy these nine Nandas, after their end, the Mauryan kings will ruled the whole earth.
So don't take Bhavishya Purana as evidence. As it also says as for Vikramaditya, whom we may call Vikram here for brevity. Vikram’s father was Gandharvasena, son of Lord Indra. Are we not into myths here?
This Vikramaditya fake Empire theory came to existence at first in the world by Mr Oak 12 page document. Before it was never mentioned by anyone…He also wrote book that vetican city is varticapur , Makka is shivalaya…
